Some may find the humble exterior to be less appealing. The establishment can get quite busy, especially during peak hours, leading to waits for tables and food service. While a busy atmosphere adds to the charm for many, it can be overwhelming for those seeking a quieter dining experience. The limited availability of reservations during peak times can also be a downside, making it challenging to secure a table without prior planning. There are occasionally mixed reviews on specific dishes for those with particular culinary preferences.
Having read all the reviews, we lobbed up here with high expectations, and were not disappointed . The exterior is humble. This is a sports club bar which must serve as function centre for the attached cricket club. The staff are amazingly lovely Yorkshire folk. Warm and friendly with smiles on their faces who couldn't be more helpful. We arrived just at opening time, got drinks at the bar and sat down to peruse the menu. The restaurant soon filled up with more and more punters, and we soon found out why. The food here is the star of the show. Generous portions, really delicious food and very keenly priced. As an added bonus, you look directly out onto the cricket ground. Whilst we were there, the Saturday match started and so we had the added bonus of being able to watch the cricket while enjoying our lunch. Not to be missed if you're looking for proper, genuine value with great service and good honest food.
First time here, what a Sunday dinner! Tender meat, fresh veg and beautiful meat gravy! 100% recommend
You need to be starving before you arrive. The food is amazing!!! This place is fantastic. The portions are huge. Steak Pie is filled with meat. The burger is really good. Kids meals are nice and simple and even good for fussy eaters. Worth a visit.
Stopped off here quickly for lunch as part of a larger journey and would recommend! Decently priced for really good food, and portions are generous. Glad we found this place and may make it our goto stop when going up and down the country on the East side.
Came today for the first time and it did not disappoint! Food was amazing, came fast and hot! Definitely be back again and give the carvery a try at some point too!

An easily solid 10/10 for this place, absolutely gorgeous food! Proper quality handmade food. With big portions too for a great price. The service is fantastic here all staff have smiles on their faces and have a good natter to you. Feels welcoming and they talk to the local customers by their first names too and ask how their days going. Nothing bad to say about the place
Don’t miss the Prawn Cocktail and Garlic Quesadillas as starters. For a hearty meal, the BBQ Stack burger and The Big One breakfast are top picks. Save room for dessert; their sweet offerings impress.
